Standing Up for Claire House

On 29 November 2018 our Business Analyst Callum Hough took to the stage to deliver a stand up comedy routine as part of a fundraising event for our company charity of the year.

The Stand Up for Claire House initiative invited eight volunteers to learn and deliver a live routine to a room full of paying guests at the Claire House Comedy Awards in Liverpool. The group of would be comedians came from different backgrounds and adopted a wide range of comedy styles.

The event was a culmination of weeks preparation for the group, writing, learning and practicing their routines. Working with training company Laughology, who specialise in courses that use humour to help organisations and schools to reach their full potential, the group of volunteers participated in a series of workshops to develop their skills and refine their act in the build up to the big night.

Drawing on his own life and experiences, plus a few humorous snapshots of life at evoke HQ, Callum delivered 5 minutes of comedy gold for the eager audience. With a modest amount of experience, having tried out stand up a couple of times, Callum took himself out of his comfort zone to learn a new skill and raise money for a very worthy cause.

Claire House Children’s Hospice is our company charity of the year and we’ve set an ambitious target to reach. Callum’s event kicked off our fundraising for this year and raised an admirable £300, with the event raising almost £5000 for the charity overall.

Located close to evoke HQ on the Wirral, Claire House has been offering support and care for dying children for the past 20 years. More families are relying on Claire House than ever before and they can no longer cope with demand. In 2018, the hospice has launched a fundraising campaign to fund a new centre in Liverpool to increase the care on offer for families and help reach more children.

We have seen first hand the incredible work the team at Claire House do and have committed to help in any way we can. Please add your support here.
