Case Study: Travelodge

Making guest check in a pleasure

 

Travelodge needed a solution to make it easy for guests to check in themselves at any time of day, with the option of adding additional upgrades, such as late check-outs or breakfasts. Both the hardware and software needed to blend seamlessly with current branding and it was a design requirement that the hardware would feel, quite literally, like part of the furniture.

 

About the project

 

Travelodge offer great value accommodation at over 560 locations in the UK and Ireland and chose evoke as their key partner to reimagine the self check-in process in their hotels.

We created new hardware and software that combined both the highest standards of design with user-friendliness. We also helped Travelodge with change management, by making how-to videos and guides for staff to ensure they were totally comfortable with operating the machines.

 

 

 

 

Bespoke Hardware and Software

 

We immersed ourselves in the Travelodge brand, looking at everything from the visitor experience to the pressure points in the day-to-day working lives of staff, to develop three concepts for hardware.

 

We tested these with our bespoke software program in a live environment and assessed the quality of user experience. The decision makers at Travelodge were already sold on how kiosk technology could help enhance the customer experience, so we enjoyed working with the team to develop their new solutions.

 

The final design is highly intuitive, with a large touchscreen, cleverly positioned card reader and discrete room key dispenser, with spaces for guests to rest luggage and documents while they checked in.

 

The user interface is easy to use and understand, providing a positive customer experience and plenty of opportunity for upselling and added value.
